But what are those SEO techniques to increase traffic?
All you need to do to go through these SEO techniques. It will make your journey a lot easier.
1. Content Curation
Content curation is a process of gathering information relevant to the particular topic. The process involves sifting, sorting, arranging, and publishing information. It can be used by businesses as well as the end users. There are several tools available online for content curation.
Scoop.it is one of my favourite tools. Scoop.it allows you to get backlinks instantly. It is an awesome content curation tool where you are exposed to high-quality information. Latest news gets delivered to you and it allows you to re-share on social media websites with others.
How do use Scoop.it?
Choose the category of your post that you want to share, find the closely related Scoop and suggest your post.
2. Co-Citation Links
Co-Citation is a process when one website or brand is mentioned (not linked) by two different sources. Co-Citation means that the more often your keywords appear near your company name on other websites of relevance, you have a great chance of appearing in search engines for that particular keyword.
When a search engine finds your website just next to your competitor’s website, then it tells that your website or company is in a related niche. If you want to get co-citation links then you can search for keywords inside double quote. Like: “best” or “top 10” in your niche.
Example: top 10 gadgets or top 10 WordPress themes
If you do this search and still don’t find your website appearing in the results, then contact your publisher and ask them to add your company to the list. You need to justify why your company should be included in the list.
The key for sites to be connected in a co-citation are:
- Common mention of the same sites must be shared.
- Discuss similar topics. There is no need to have shared keywords.
3. The Broken Link-Building Method
Finding broken links needs lots of hard-work and patience. But it is a great white hat link-building strategy that can be quite effective. In the broken link-building method, you’re actually helping publishers to fix the broken links. But to fix the broken links, you must find broken links first that is relevant to your niche. Once you find broken links then contact the webmaster with the broken link and inform him about the broken link on his website. Now, you can suggest him to replace it with your link. If all goes right then you will get a backlink in return.
Now the question is how to find broken links?
In Google search, you can use the following search strings. These strings will allow you find them easily:
- “SEO” + “resource page”
- “SEO” + “recommended sites”
- “SEO” + “useful links”
- “SEO” + “toolbox”
- “SEO” + “resources”
- “SEO” + “useful tools”

4. Editorial Links
Editorial Links can be one of the most powerful for SEO. These are the links you didn’t pay for. In editorial links, you don’t have to ask website owners to give you the links pointing to your website. These are the editorially given links by other website owners.
As it comes from other editorial websites, it can be can be some of the most powerful SEO techniques.
The easiest way to get editorial links is to create great content that people will want to share with their readers. Creating a great content can be hard and might take some time but once you are done with the content, you get a high-quality link pointing to your website.
Another great way to get backlink is guest posting. Writing and publishing articles on someone else’s website or blog is a great way to get backlinks. I offer this on my website as well (occasionally). You can check the details on our “write for us” page.
5. Link Reclamation
If you are not familiar with it, it is the task of searching, contacting the owners of the website and fixing broken links on the blog or website. This will help you gain links pointing to your website. Link reclamation can be a very powerful SEO technique that will help you get new and fresh links pointing to your website.
You might be wondering that finding such broken links would be a hectic task. Yes. This might be one of the trickiest SEO techniques but not that difficult. You only require two tools for Link Reclamation: Microsoft Excel and Open Site Explorer. Open Site Explorer is a free in-depth tool that enables you to analyse link on web pages.
6. Link Outreach
Link outreach can be a bit “old school” but it is still super powerful. But first of all, you need to find websites in your niche. Make a list of such websites and once you collect the contact details contact the admin. Send them a polite request mail or call and ask them for a link. Who knows you might get a high-quality link pointing to your website.
7. Competitor Analysis
Competitor analysis is a process of analysing the strengths and the weaknesses of your current and potential competitors. It a is process in which companies spend their lot of time in analysing and researching their competitors. It is incredibly complicated and time-consuming task but once you are done analysing and researching, you get the desired results.
A competitive analysis is a critical part of your company’s SEO strategies and marketing plan. Competitor analysis will make you understand your products better. With this, you will be able to identify what makes your website, service or product unique.
8. Focus on ROI Instead of Keyword Rankings
Just ranking your keywords well in a search engine does not mean that you are doing well and your SEO campaign is successful. The search volume also plays an important role in website’s success. It is possible to rank number one for many keywords that have no real ROI. Instead, you should also focus on metrics that bring conversions along with getting ranked in top search engines.
9. Optimise for Yahoo, Bing, and Others
The Web has become even more important after 2015. If I talk about desktop computer, Google was the big time winner. But have a look at the rankings of all the top search Engines:
- Google: 75%
- Yahoo: 8%
- Bing: 7%
- DuckDuckGo: 2%
- AOL: 1%
- Ask: 1%
- Baidu: 1%
If I talk about Mobile devices, again Google was a clear winner, with an even higher percentage than their desktop share.
- Google: 78%
- Yahoo: 5%
- Bing: 3%
- DuckDuckGo: 1%
- AOL: 1%
- Ask: 1%
Optimising your website for Google means you are 75% and 78% ready for desktop computer and mobile devices respectively. If you want an even great result, you would surely want to be 100% ready. And for that, you need to optimise your website for all the top search engine including Google, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Ask and AOL.
Yahoo is the default search engine for Firefox now. Earlier Google had the deal with Safari browser for the default search engine, which is supposed to end in 2015. Yahoo and Bing are both trying to become the default search engine for the safari browser. As other search engines are putting their efforts to become the default web browsers for different devices, it always makes sense to optimise for those search engines as well.
10. Mobile SEO
Mobile is becoming more popular every year. There is a huge increase in a number of mobile users. People spend more and more time on their mobile and tablet devices. Every website is becoming responsive for all kind of devices whether we talk about Desktop, Laptop, Tablet or Mobile.
Because of hardware and connectivity issue, page speed gets degraded. So optimise the images and minify the codes while keeping in mind that you need to optimise the website for mobile users as well. You should bring mobile in a core part of your SEO Strategies to increase traffic on your website. However, always be careful about the website or server configuration errors. According to BrightEdge, it causes 68 percent loss of traffic. Unfortunately, I had the same issue with my website as well that resulted in huge traffic loss.
Here is a Google’s guide to mobile SEO implementation.
